MidexPRO is one of the UKs leading Private Practice Management software provider.
We work in the medical industry to provide our clients with a robust and secure software that facilitates the needs of any busy clinical practice.
The security of client data is held in the highest regard. We employ the same levels of security adopted by Banks, Government organisations and the Armed Forces by choosing the Microsoft Azure platform.
To reduce the opportunity of ‘brute force entry’ through to client’s data set, various conditions are in place to avoid their credentials becoming compromised or allow unauthorised access.
Multi-factor authentication is just one of the security elements we offer to clients as standard across all versions of MidexPRO reducing the need for expensive Key Fobs.
What is Multi-Factor Authentication or MFA?
MFA is a ‘risk reduction’ credential used to reduce the number of hack-related breaches. It combines two or more verification credentials to identify a login to, in this case, MidexPRO and patient data.
MFA allows for employees who work outside of the office or may access patient data on the move, a more complex access request. An unsecure WiFi network could open you up to an untrusted connection and by using MFA you reduce the risk of that unauthorised access going any further: If one or more of the credentials becomes compromised the unauthorised User will need to meet other authentication requirements to move forward and so on.
How does MFA work in MidexPRO and how do I use it to support my security needs?
If you are using the MidexPRO Private Practice Management software, there are a few steps to take to ensure you and those with access to your data, use Multi-Factor Authentication effectively.
- We recommend downloading either the Microsoft Authenticator or Google Authenticator from your App store (Apple) or Google play (Android).
- Use the one-time pin code to set up an Account.
- Each time you go to log in to MidexPRO, use your individual passwords and login credentials and use your phone to generate an individual code from the App as the next level of access to your data.
Adding MFA to your business requirements, makes perfect sense.
Further advice relates to Password setting. When joining MidexPRO, Users are always instructed not to share login’s or share passwords with colleagues or temporary staff.
To make sure they are ‘strong’ and memorable, we take the advice given to us from Cyber Security, to pick a trio of words that resonate with you: Use a mix of numbers and/or capital letters. For example: Cakedanc3run This example offers a mix of capital letters and include a number. Easily remembered without the need to write it down.
